Enilive

For increasingly decarbonized mobility

Enilive is Eni’s mobility transformation company. Founded with the goal of offering integrated services and products that are progressively decarbonized by 2050, Enilive is the tangible result of Eni’s ten-year commitment to sustainability-driven mobility transformation. All of Eni’s mobility activities have now converged within Enilive: from biorefining and biomethane assets to smart mobility solutions, including Enjoy vehicle sharing, from the production and marketing of all energy carriers through a network of more than 5,000 Enilive Stations in Europe, to the provision of services to support people on the move, with food playing a central role.

Enilive’s goal is represented by the watchwords that underpin its mission: innovation, a forward-looking approach, an emphasis on greater sustainability, and customer focus.

The three pillars of Enilive’s strategy

As we progressively change the way we move, we will also change the world around us.

New energy carriers and biorefineries

Increasingly decarbonized mobility requires energy diversification, with a gradual reduction of fossil fuels and the spread of alternative carriers. At Enilive Stations, services and products are already available for fuelling new engines, such as electric charging stations - thanks to the cooperation with Plenitude/Becharge - hydrogen systems and fuels from biogenic raw materials such as HVO (Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil), bio-LPG and biomethane.

Eni has also been investing in biofuels since 2014 through its industrial assets, which include the biorefineries in Porto Marghera, Venice (the first biorefinery to be reconverted in Europe, in 2014), Gela and the St. Bernard Renewables LLC biorefinery (50% owned joint venture) in Louisiana (USA). These are joined by 22 biomethane production plants in Italy, as well as new projects, currently under evaluation, for new biorefineries in Livorno, Pengerang (Malaysia) and Daesan, South Korea.

Enilive intends to show that, in terms of the energy transition, biofuels make a current and concrete contribution to the need to decarbonize the transport sector, including the so-called hard-to-abate, i.e. heavy transport trucks, air transport and maritime transport.

HVOlution

HVOlution is the Enilive biofuel produced from 100% renewable raw materials (according to the “REDII” EU Directive 2018/2001). Thanks to its proprietary Ecofining™ technology, HVOlution is mainly produced from waste raw materials, such as waste cooking oil, animal fats, agro-food industry residues, and a residual amount of vegetable oils. In order to ensure the increasingly sustainable supply of its biorefineries, Eni has launched an agri-feedstock project in certain African countries, which aims to cultivate plants on land that does not compete with forest resources.

Smart mobility services

In 2013, Eni launched Enjoy, a vehicle sharing service created with the aim of reducing private vehicle fleets, decongesting traffic and improving the quality of life of people who live and work in the city.  Enjoy is available:

  • in free-floating mode, i.e. with the option to start and end rentals at any point within the coverage area, in Milan, Rome, Turin, Bologna and Florence
  • in station-based mode (at Enjoy Points in some Enilive Stations) in Padua, Vicenza, Verona, Jesolo (Venice), Lazise and Peschiera del Garda (Verona), Trento, Brixen (Bolzano) and Trieste.

Enjoy has over 1.5 million customers, 31 million rentals since 2013 and a total fleet of around 3,000 vehicles consisting of hybrid cars, electric cars and cargo vehicles.

Smart mobility services now also include the new Eni Parking, created in certain Enilive Stations and disused Eni sites, now redeveloped and upgraded, with parking spaces equipped with smart parking and electric recharging, which can be accessed with a fully digital subscription, paying only with the Enilive App, credit card or debit card. The car parks are true intermodal hubs that also allow customers to park their cars – taking advantage of charging in the case of electric cars – and continue their journey by hiring an Enjoy.

Mobility Hub

Eni’s energy transition also involves service stations. More than 4000 locations scattered throughout Italy and another 1000 in Europe. In order to make a concrete contribution to sustainable mobility goals, Enilive stations are transformed into “mobility hubs”, places to experience where people can stop and access many services to support people on the move, helping to reduce travel and city traffic: today it is possible to do a little shopping in Emporium convenience shops, activate and withdraw Telepass subscriptions, pay post office bills and pick up parcels at special Lockers. On the food front, the Enilive Stations boast a chain of bars present at more than 1,200 locations throughout Europe, the Eni Cafés, which are joined by the more recent ALT Stazione del Gusto restaurant project created in collaboration with Accademia Niko Romito. In an informal and cosy atmosphere, ALT’s kitchen offers, from breakfast to dinner, a gastronomic proposal that ensures a tasty and high-quality stop at Enilive petrol stations.

Enilive Stations are places designed to enhance this entire offer by creating a physical and digital dialogue with people, including through the Enilive App, the digital tool that provides access to many of the services available at the facilities.
