Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) is an integrated project for the development of oil and natural fields where the natural gas that is produced is entirely destined to meet the demands of Sub-Saharan Africa. Located off the west coast of Ghana, its Sankofa and Gye Nyame facilities are developed with wells and systems on the seabed, connected to the John Agyekum Kufuor floating production and storage unit (FPSO). OCTP production started ahead of schedule and continues to be one of the most reliable energy sources for the region. We also own a stake in the Cape Three Points Block 4 offshore exploration licence where we have found significant gas resources and associated condensate.
In 2020, the OCTP project supplied more than 50% of the gas used for thermal power generation in Ghana. Furthermore, we launched the Livelihood Restoration Plan project in Ghana to support production activities with a programme to stimulate local micro-entrepreneurship through the start-up of income-generating craft activities for local communities.

Innovation for sustainability in OCTP project
Thanks to our proprietary technology and constant focus on the area, we were able to implement the OCTP project in a sustainable manner. The Sankofa oil field was discovered thanks to our innovations for studying the subsurface, such as advanced seismic imaging and field modelling. These technologies are based on the computing capacity of our HPC5 supercomputer.
The John Agyekum Kufuor Floating Production and Storage Offload (FPSO) Unit is an example of how we reuse existing assets: it was built on the basis of a converted oil tanker, saving a considerable amount of costs and time.
